Hello, I’m Dave Jacobsen, Mayor of New Brighton. I want to thank you for allowing me to serve as your Mayor for the past two years. During this time we have made significant progress on resolving the issues and problems you elected me to take on, but there is still more work to be done.

Over the past two years, in spite of the troubled economy, we have reduced our public debt, decreased city operating expenses, and mitigated many of the pitfalls of past ill-fated redevelopment projects. We have accomplished this with no property tax levy increases or cuts in essential city services. There are still challenges ahead, but I believe my leadership has put the city in a strong position to successfully address them. I am asking for the privilege of being your Mayor for another term to finish what has been started.

I was born and raised in the area, just one block from St. Anthony and have lived and worked in the Northern suburbs all of my life. I have been a New Brighton resident for the past twenty two years and have own a home in New Brighton with my wife Kathleen and our two daughters, Susan and Sara.

For 39 years, I worked for Onan Corporation as a Facility Engineering Supervisor and Environmental Manager. In this capacity, I traveled to different states around the country working on projects and environmental issues.

I have also served on several board of directors including North Metro C.A.E.R and the Northeast YMCA.
